Thread regarding Citrix Systems Inc. layoffs

Should I join as Sr. Software Engineer in Burlington,MA office?

Hi guys, I got offer from Citrix - Burlington,MA office. Its good in terms of money, but i have another equally good offer which i'm trying to weight in.

Citrix being a big company and in virtualization(booming) right now, I felt it would be good to join, but I found lot content about bad Sr. management/ layoff etc.

Can I get thoughts from all you guys. Thanks

Why would you join a company that is not having much impact in the market, and has been on the dwindle for years now ? Have you looked at the topline  bottomline growth ?
We have been having stealth layoffs every quarter where a percentage of the people in the BusinessUnit are letgo, and if you are going to join the Cloud BU, I would just run, its a train wreck waiting to explode one of these days..

I think a lot of it depends on the product/group/service you'd be involved with. Leaders and people are all different. I would ask up front for an interview cycle that includes you either having lunch with some of the employees from the team or your own round of interviews with individuals over zoom. You want to get as much info as you can about the working environment you'd be dealing with and learn how you'd be able to contribute in a way that you would be satisfied. In general, Engineering doesn't see a ton of changes often. I feel like if its a good fit for you from a culture/project/pay perspective it would most likely be a pretty solid gig.
