Thread regarding Northwestern Mutual layoffs

Charade of flexibility is over

Below article says it all - leadership never really wanted to support flexibility and they're ready to start making a push for people to come back. So much for the talk of flexibility and a modern culture - would have been nice to skip the pretending part.

Just heard two people in my department were let go for moving more than 50 miles away from the office during the pandemic and declaring they would not move back closer to the office.

Why only employees have to come back? NM management fools are hiring all contractors remote.
What do these contractors do? Hcl struggling as he-l!
Random note: seen some employees licking a$$h$le of Indy contractors

The comment about the value of 'face to face' as a driver is hilarious when the IT teams have been forced to put up w/ these 'challenges' via InfoSys, et. al. for years.

I might take your comments more seriously if you could bother to use proper English.

How is this news to you? Have you even paid attended during all company meetings?

And, what will they do when unvaccinated employees come back to the office and cause a outbreak? Oh, maybe only those who are not vaccinated will be able to stay home and take care of their children while being paid for full-time work. And, what about those employees who were hired and don't live in Wisconsin or New York? Exceptions will become a nightmare to manage and discrimination will be rampant.

It's apparent that Schlifske has super old school ideas. It's honestly time for him to retire. In the tech org we've struggled to meet all of our hiring needs, the Milwaukee market is only so big. Might be time for a bunch of us to get new jobs at companies that aren't acting like this is 30 years ago. I don't understand why they continue to to keep the Franklin campus. Sell it.
