Thread regarding Apache Corp. layoffs

How hard are you trying to find a new job?

I know it’s ugly, but I’m a little envious of those who leave here. On the other hand, I am also happy for everyone who is leaving, because there is no future here.
I have been trying unsuccessfully to find a new job for a long time, but unfortunately, my age prevents me from leaving.

They want more people to leave on their own. Long term they will need fewer employees because the next big thing for APA will be a mostly commercial play that someone else will operate.

I was laid off from Apache last June, I applied to over 200 jobs, and as I applied I lowered my minimal pay. After 1 year I finally got a job, I went from $34 a hour to $15. I totally believe it was my age that limited me, but it is what it is.

It is tough to find a company that has both utterly incompetent leadership AND over market pay rates. APA is a real Jem in that regard. You will likely have to cope with the frustration / swallow some pride and stay if you expect to keep your pay.

Vociferously. Actually had to turn down an offer today because after my counter they couldn’t meet me at a decent figure. Bummer.
