Probably because furniture associates are the only decently paid employees in the stores.

Buying and supply chain offices cut? How and to what extent? How can you sell when there's nothing being bought to sell?

While there are still some supply chain issues, it seems like only Macy's has them at the current scale and we are still blaming the pandemic. We are discontinuing everything since we have cut back staffing so much at our buying office and supply chain offices that we no longer have the people needed to track and manage overseas orders. So many of our new lines are being discontinued before they even have a chance for customers to make orders since wait times are laughable and customers just walk out of the store. It's easier to just sell whatever comes into the store as a floor sample to avoid making orders that we continue to fail to deliver when scheduled.
