Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

You need to do something about it

So many people are worried about their future at TD but the fact is, everybody can do something about it. Make a plan right now, look at what your options are, start networking... You are just ruining your health by constantly worrying about things that most likely won't even come true while doing nothing to reduce that worry.

@2oln+1bL3vxUv I respectfully disagree. There are many skills which are of high value, as there are bad habits or obsolete practices which are a liability. Can't paint all with the same brush. Just do do a merciless spring cleanup and throw out rotten furniture, but keep the old solid appliance... But also be mindful that the competition is all too often selling flimsy gadgets with amazingly shiny paint only to find out they only work only on a Tuesday or if good weather...

Having Teradata on your resume is the kiss of death. Get out now and work for a better company-there are plenty hiring.

It’s quite different in Germany. I was with the German organization for almost 7 years before I quit earlier this year from their consulting division. Most of my ex colleagues here are happy and eagerly waiting to get laid off for the handsome severance package. Some are here with the organization for more than 20 years and they have absolutely no incentive to quit on their own.

I left earlier this year. I am much happier and earn 15% more. So far, only one of my former TD colleagues has reached out to me for advice on how they too can reach escape velocity. I'd be happy to share with more people, but they need to take the initiative.
