It seems to me that I would somehow endure micromanagement if only the one who does this to me is a competent person. However, experiencing micromanagement from a person who is less competent than most employees (but has somehow reached a managerial position) is truly humiliating. There are exceptions, of course, but how is it that the least competent people always end up in managerial positions, I don't understand that at all?

We used to be a company hat attracted the best and brightest when we were growing, now we are in decline and the leaders we bring in or hold onto are those who's only real skill is getting the most out of their teams regardless of how they do it, or the impact that it has on their people. Working for those less qualified than yourself is a soul shredding experience, there are a lot of opportunities out there right now. Look into them and you will find a better environment and probably earn more too.
Our store would always recruit from a "major" university and they were always a dud. I wonder if they hired those with the lowest gpa..
cause macys loves less competent managers.. easy to control and string along for that " big store manager promotion " that's never coming..
