Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

How does all this still work?

Sometimes I really wonder how UP still somehow works, but anything is possible as long as there are those of us who are still here and continue to work under constant burnout.
As long as there are people who will agree to such poor working conditions, UP will somehow work. However, I think there are fewer and fewer of us who do. There is life outside of this company.

There was another post about this already, just titled differently. Saying people are too afraid to take a chance at finding a different job or aren't qualified to get anything else is too absolute. Some people CAN'T go anywhere else due to there location. Going somewhere else or just quitting the UP isn't feasible when you have a family to care for, or other various issues that require constant employment. Like it said in the other post, "some people risk losing more than just a paycheck". Let's try to exercise some consideration for those that really don't have the option of quitting outright.

I don’t understand why anyone still wants to work for UP. I left last year and it is the best thing I have ever done. Anyone left is either too afraid to take a chance and find another job, or not qualified for anything else. Why stay somewhere where you are not valued? The company will get rid of you the first chance they get. Get a life and get away from UP.

This is precisely why Warren Buffett invested in the BNSF and not UP. Saying he is a smart man is an understatement.

Burn out WTF. Go work a few shutdowns in the plants and you’ll be begging to come back.

Just got done working ANOTHER derailment. There are definitely fewer and fewer of us. The contractors always have different faces, none of the contractors I saw would pass a random dr-g test.
