Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Intel does not teach relevant skills

I became fully aware that Intel employees do not adopt skills that are in high demand, only after I started looking for a new job. Now it seems to me the longer someone is at Intel, the less marketable they are. I don't know what your experiences are, but I will probably have to make up the missing skills in a short time in order to get a new opportunity?

Obviously they cut cost so much every employee is overworked to the point they are struggling. Great if u have time to take some classes or read a book or watch a movie in ur free time.

Years ago each employee could count on the Company paying for at least one class or event per year. Invest in employees or be damned.

No, only developing your “personal brand” and visibility are required. Just be good at networking and fluffing up your image to get ahead at Intel.

I'd be upset if I hired a phd in engineering and I had to teach them a 100 level stats class before they could do their job

It’s on you to keep up with the world. There’s no guarantee that Intel or any other place will look out for you.

They want everybody in the dark. Six Sigma training would be nice! or any other transfreeable skills.
