Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

What a difference

I left a few months ago for a competitor and I noticed how much life has improved since then. The differences financially and mentally were astounding not to mention the quality of my peers and leadership. I never thought I’d say this because I used to be a hard core loyal employee but now I see that life is better since I’ve been gone.

Haha That business model is spot on! Every time they make a change it’s an epic fail. All their decisions are made by throwing cr-p at the wall and whatever sticks is what they decide to go with. It’s very evident they didn’t pass Business 101. Instead of spending tons of money on training that nobody likes or uses, how about using that money to give us our pittance of a increase from last year. “Our business is doing GREAT AND INCREASING EVERY DAY” or so they say. It’s gonna be another year of the cr---y salary and dealing with commission manipulation —- the house always wins sadly. I used to like it there.

I was let go 2 years ago and decided to start my own business applying many of the business practices I learned. We've grown and have finally hit the point where I can cut loose a few people, over burden the rest, increase quotas, decrease compensation and change our logo to attract investors.

I heard Mason did a major layoff of sales people down south? Was that true of a false rumor?

I totally get what you are saying! I was the same; so very loyal and dedicated. Then the layoff hit. It was tough but much happier now. The grass can be greener; you just have to take the leap!
