I've been here for six years. When I started, I liked my jobs and most of the people I worked with. Now, the work environment seems to have shifted drastically. I have a new manager who fosters competition instead of cooperation in his team. The overall culture has shifted as well - people are getting promoted based on nepotism and not merit. Add to that the increased number of layoffs, and you have to wonder how did such a major change happen in such a short time?

Since the merger, Ameren has allowed HR and lack of direction to poison the work environment. I once sat in a meeting with upper management where we were told that Ameren's product was not making and selling electricity and that they were seriously considering selling all of the power plants. This kind of unclear think has undermined everything that Ameren has done since. They have failed to anticipate and prepare for the changes the power generation market and are now playing catch-up.
It’s changed. A lot and for the worse. It’s become a very toxic place to be, especially in Digital.
Huh! You should have worked for Ameren when it was UE. It has all been downhill since. Ameren then UE like most corporations didn't let HR run the show and treated employees pretty well. Since UE merged with then CIPs to become Ameren, it has been nothing but HR meeting, layoffs, and talk.
