I'm just not the type of person who will work the bare minimum. I know that those who work the most and who put in the most effort also experience the most disappointment in the end, but still... maybe subconsciously I still can't accept that hard work is not valued at all.
Despite everything, I know many more such people who know that some of those who got laid off last year are the ones who put in the most effort, and yet continue to work hard. Macy’s can consider itself lucky because it still has employees like this.

It's called pride in yourself and your work. Good for you.

Its getting harder and harder to care and do the best job. I dont think it actually matters to anyone anymore if you do or dont.
So true! At my store some of us actually work. We may not like the company as much as we use to but we still do what it takes. Then there are those who complain all the time about everything but yet still hang on. Baffles me how some of them complain about not getting enough hours but when given the chance to work extra hours ( OT anyone? ) they don't take them.
I'm with you on this, and I know several other hardworking people who still put a lot of effort into their work. Each of us have different reasons for putting much effort, regardless of the outcome, and Macy's is lucky to have such people. I think it just shows that some of us do take pride in what we do and want to do our best, or we just have that "don't give up" attitude and want to see our store do well. Even though some might question why one tries so hard, why one is so driven to keep trying, in the end, it says more about that person than the company they work for.
