Thread regarding Broadcom Corp. layoffs

OK, when is it enough?

Over the past few months, I’ve been constantly getting more and more work. At first I thought it was just a phase. Then I thought they will eventually realize that an employee really can't handle that much work and stop giving me more. Now I'm just thinking about how to leave. I wonder if there is anyone else here, other than the privileged ones, who doesn’t do work for several people?

Make sure your manager thinks you are at your limit, even if you are sitting back with your feet on the desk.

Do not be honest or transparent about your available capacity... that is a sign of weakness at Broadcom. Management will take you for a rube and give you more work.

Eventually you will quit because of the overload, and HR will get a nice fat bonus for "managing you out".

Don't be a rube. Recognize your environment and rationally game it to your benefit.

not sure about $500, unless we make some big a$$ acquisition that the street thinks makes sense...no 500

It's not that bad the stock price will surge past 500 and we get so many RSUs. Then our bonus will be huge this year.

My experience was that the people “going places” did as little as possible for others unless it would help them be seen by their management. You will not be thanked for going above and beyond your remit unless you are in a fortunate area of the business. The reason you have too much to do is because HT continues to cut staff and will continue to do so. Picking up the extra work is unlikely to do you any favours unless you enjoy working in a culture of pure “Manage-up” and fear of when redundancy will come knocking…
