Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Don't forget, everybody...

  • Macy's 3 year Plan to shut down stores and trim back its employees didn't get cancelled because of the pandemic. The third year of their cutbacks is coming up in February of 2022.

Yes there are 2 in NJ Livingston and East Brunswick to reply to the previous post. I am also curious if any non Neighborhood would close as well.

A pandemic will not stop a
Company like Macy’s from implementing this plan. Neighborhood that I’m in is still going. Luckily for now none of the NJ stores are closing but there are 2 on the list. Have to make serious Magic to avoid closing. This site beating plan and they own the building so no lease payments which might or might not help their cause.

If you are a neighborhood store, you will be closing unless the company changed its mind. They already said back in 2019 that all neighborhood stores were closing unless that store could work magic and leave the list. I'm more interested in knowing if they will close non-neighborhood stores with the rest of neighborhood.

I work at a Neighborhood store and we're already half closed with almost no staff, only one sales manager, and so little inventory that even the shoplifters complain about it. We are waiting around for the payout when the store closes, its not so bad since nobody visits and there isn't a district anymore, just someone we've never met based out of California. We only had one visit where they complained and the old boss who we also never met got fired and we haven't seen anyone since. Everyone's been asked to go to other stores that aren't closing and nobody wants to, just want to collect the payout and go work someplace else since it's not like it used to be here anymore.

Maybe you missed it but Macy's did close some stores early this year, so no interruption in their plan, if anything, it probably forced them to close more stores in order to save more money because of the shutdown. Also, there is not much to cut back on, not when you can't hire enough workers. At my store we are having to use temp workers to do everything but sales. We are also short one sales manager, position has been open for nearly 2 months but yet our store is doing well which is a positive.
