Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

Hey Pemex, if you're reading this, you can save over 3.5 million a year by going to self directed

Hey AMLO, if you or your team are reading this - Dump the overhead now at Deer Park and opt to go the self directed path. You will pay yourselves back over 2 to 3 million a year worth in salaries alone.

LOL at the "break the Union" comments. Yes, I can go to just about any operating unit and probably find hourly operators just lazing around, and I KNOW that I can find maintenance personnel that sit on their a$$e$ most of any given work day. That said, I have trouble blaming these people - it's their leadership that is the real problem, especially in maintenance, and it goes to the very top at Deer Park. This behavior has been accepted for generations of workers and the processes to drive work have bottlenecked the ability to get boots on the ground and working. The maintenance organization management is broad and expansive - there're multiple coordinators and supervisors required to manage, in many cases, just a handful of craftsmen. Ten years ago there were three layers of mgmt to the top for maintenance. Now there are at least five with multiple extra middlemen positions that perform watered down roles. You could get rid of half of the maintenance staff tomorrow and still get the same output. On top of that, you have siloed maintenance work processes that operations coordinators would rather work around than fix, increasing inefficiencies. Hourly workers will do the work, but you have to have leaders in place that can execute - it takes two to tango.

With any luck, Pemex will continue to allow operators to nap at the consoles. Well-rested operators are clearly the key to a profitable plant.

Break the Union and kiss your benefits goodbye as well. Up and down the ship channel for that matter. The real reason we have so much "laziness" as you say, is all the fu---n red tape from all the lackeys up front trying to "job justify" their title or positions. Try coming to the unit where the $$$$ is made instead of sheltering yourselves inside cubicles desk jockeying.

They could save a lot more by breaking the union and get rid of the self entitlement out their among the hourly people. People to damn lazy to do the right thing and actually work. Operators whining because they have to open a valve that is long winded or maintenance complaining because they have to actually work.
