Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

If Shell Doesn't Know How to Run A Refinery, Can it Run Chemicals or Will the Same Fate Befall It?

They really do not know how to run a refinery as those that they sold, returned profits.

Now the question is, can they run chemicals or will it meet the same id--tic fate?

Everyone knows that Chemicals are more complex and require even better skilled managements.

That is on top of having to compete with specialized companies that have for decades only run chemicals. Plus Exxon and other majors are also going in BIG into chemicals.

My opinion is, Shell will sink with chemicals because fundamentals of Shell management doesn't not change. Clowns run the place.

Oh, it's worse than you think: Shell sold off the two top layers of refinery management to PEMEX. These people made the decisions about who would go with them. Think they're leaving the best talent at Shell? Very few on site are looking after Shell's best interests in this deal, believe that. I would guess that chemicals would be folded out in a few years time.

Hope PEMEX doesn’t send themselves crude oil in their water on their “oil” barge shipments and blow the distillation column to he-l

2gzp+1b5qI8GL. Wouldn't they be able to turn a better profit since it's essentially their oil and they're refining it to finished products, selling it a going rate

From what I see Obrador believes that PEMEX has not received its fair share from DP over the years so wants to squeeze out all the profits that DP generates. However, refining margins have been razor thin and if they try to squeeze too hard and don't reinvest in maintenance and improvements they may find themselves on the losing end of process safety incidents. Hugo Chavez tried the same thing with PDVSA and after several years they have ground pretty well all of Venezuela's refineries to a halt. OSHA may have to be increasingly vigilant to ensure the safety and well being of the plant and workers is maintained.

OP2, OP3 and Heavy will be the only units left at the park since Aromatics is going with the Refinery. I wouldn’t be surprised if they go ahead and shut PAU2 down or sell it off.

Shell's flagship has been sinking for a long time. Can't wait to see what Pemex has to offer. I wonder if the chemical plant knows they are up for sale next? 🤔
