Thread regarding Commscope Inc. layoffs

Always be prepared

I got laid off.
Every body was talking about what was coming and I ignored all the 'background noise' until it was too late.
I had to scramble to get re-employed. It was not easy but I did better than Commscope in the end.
If I had known what I know now, I would have left sooner.

This is what I keep trying to explain to people - no matter how safe you feel, be prepared for the worst. I know so many people who are not taking the option of being laid off seriously enough and I know something like this will happen to them when (and I'm pretty sure it's a when and not an if) they're affected. What's it going to cost you to make sure you're prepared?

The people leaving Commscope (or getting fired) are going to work for Commscope competitors.

Commscope isn't even aware of what is going on. Lot of the Arris and Ruckus products are currently on a trash pile in the back of a truck (at now closed Weird Stuff Warehouse, a Bay Area surplus store, which was bought by Excess Solutions).

Commscope's solution to losing all their loyal talent (that the burned), after their acquisition of Arris/Ruckus is to replace them with students who have H1B status. A not so admirable way to cut costs, and show shareholders the upper management means business.
