Here is why all this company has "gone woke"..
Vicki ("VIKI") is damaged goods, due to her demonstrated gross incompetence in the APC acquisition. The only people who don't understand that are laid out in the cemetary.
People like VIKI who are "damaged goods" are very easily controlled by others, because they can easily have their poor history/incompetence held over their head. That is what is going on here. The 3 big ETF sponsors (Blackrock, S&P, Vanguard) are all themselves tilting woke to various degrees. They are the biggest shareholders of OXY (and every other company). So they would rather have a pawn of a CEO at a relatively UN-important like OXY evangelizing "wokeness".
If VIKI had been a competent CEO, she would not be the stooge of the ETF sponsors. But you and I don't live in that world.
Agreed. But the company still doesn’t care about the shareholders. Why should they. We don’t bring any vale to the company except to prop up the stock options and other compensation of the executives. If they are really wealthy anyway then they can ignore the shareholders. They need to just make sure there are no whistleblowers or suits against the company that will take them down. That would be really messy.
Oxy should worry about making money for their shareholders. It’s what they get paid to do. Sc--w D&I.

She doesn't need to mention it first. I don't see a problem with that. In case you didn't see diversity, she was the only woman that spoke while four other male middle age C level male folks followed her speech. Oxy is diverse enough and openminded. Good with me, now let's focus on what matters, pay down debt, find and produce oil, pay taxes
