Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

How big are your ambitions?

The conclusion that emerges is that there are not many ambitious people at Teradata who have set their goals, are ready to take risks with a new beginning in a new company, invest more in themselves and not wait to be laid off here. It seems to me that many prefer the status quo they have here.

Just as you were writing that, I was wavering – I've got a few risky offers, but so far despite the uncertainty, the technology has solid principles which are mostly compatible with the cloud (albeit at the cost of heavy replumbing which for some reason doesn't get the dosh needed), the company does try to survive in this brave new world and there are lots of people in the rank and file who do a fantastic work, assuming a lot of responsibility almost _against_ the sycophancy, incompetence and nepotism which runs rampant at the top. And on balance, I think I'll take the plunge – but I'm not cheerful. Long story short – if I'll leave, it'll be because fighting should be an outwardly, joined–up exercise, not an internal guerilla drain. As the bash prompt will say... with power comes responsibility.
