Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Why are we still having layoffs?

So many people have been laid off so far but their work has not disappear. It's been distributed to the rest of who are already having trouble getting everything done in time. I'd really like to know what this ELT thinks is an okay amount of work for the single pay we receive. So far it's three jobs for the price of one, but that is only bound to increase with more layoffs.

Caught your manager lying? You make it sound like an accomplishment which is good I guess that he/she/it doesn't do it that often. Lying IS my manager's job and she does it well. She has been exposed lying to customers as well as the management above her many times but is good at focusing attention onto anyone else to keep it off of her. Apparently she does it so well that the VP above her commends her for it in front of all of us beneath her. The last team survey we had was quite eye–opening. Everyone said generally the same thing about how it was wrong that we were expected to lie to our customers at all costs and how we weren't serving customers in their best interests, instead focusing on keeping our lies covered up. When the VP reviewed the survey with us, it was shortened to her yelling at everyone about being so negative and how this negativity will not be tolerated. I guess when she asked for everyone's anonymous opinion, she didn't realize what she would get back.

Hey!
Everyone is forgetting that Teradata says that they are the most ethical company around.
Just ask an SSE how much that has helped them recently...

What does the ELT think? They don’t give you a thought as they’re collecting millions off your work.

Once the SSE’s are gone, the SEM’s will be let go.

SEMs are next, and Tijuana is getting the work. The majority of CSS will be gone soon as cloud tries to take over. As clients continue to leave, and cloud continues to fail... what's left? You won't need, marketing, PD, Sales, PS, or what's left of consulting either..

Ever hear, "We moved to TD cloud and it was the best experience! Incidents are down, reliability is up, and when we have issues the response rate is lighting fast!!"

Yeah, me neither.

More? We haven't heard of any in the SEM groups. What more were hit or will be hit?

As for free time, I have lots. Thus me being here so much!

All positions are in jeopardy, there is too much overhead (just count the number of EVP, SVP, VP) and not enough people contributing. Also count the number of people on a layoff board saying how happy and great – too much free time?

I totally agree that the current situation is bad and the forecasts are worse. What data is the 2–year estimate that Teradata closes based on?
There are important customers around the world who base their data gestin on Teradata. What about those contracts?

Less revenue into the organisation, fewer new clients, loss of existing customers. All this means the financials don't work and the ELT need to keep the EPS in the target range so they get the $$$$. Thus they need to size organisation to fit.

This is a contraction rather than a growth story.

As others have already suggested at the current contraction rate gives TD about 2 years. That can be a long time in technology. That also means, sadly, there will be more waves of people exiting the organisation unless revenue and cash flow improve.
