Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

How much better is your life after Dell?

Layoff surprised me a bit because I wasn't expecting to become a layoff target. It took me a while to get used to not having to stare at my laptop all day anymore. It was only then that I realized how much I was actually used to all that stress. Even three months after being laid off I sometimes get the same feeling that I need to finish something urgently. Basically, I have a feeling I would never get enough rest if I hadn’t gotten laid off. I finally feel more rested and in a good mood, and now I’ve gotten a much better offer than I had at Dell.

I interned at Dell, hated it, promised myself never to come back, only to come back after a couple of years. Hated it even more as a full time employee. After Dell I joined a struggling company but they paid me more, gave me great responsibility and it felt like a family. To this day I regret going back to Dell a second time. The politics and the back stabbing, the projects that go nowhere, the lack of culture and the incredibly depressing HQ makes me want to vomit.

Got my life back and my health, was working round the clock, never missed a deadline in all the years. Got laid off and so happy to be out of that soul destroying dump. Feeling sorry for all the time I lost there.

It feels quite amazing. I didn't realize how stressed out I was until after I got laid off.

I am out of Dell for few years already. My salary is $250K ; clearly the grass is greener out of the Dell zoo.

My life is 100% after Dell. Layed off last year. Always gave 100%, never missed a day of work, my clients loved me. Unfortunately, I did not fit the dell mold of sucking up to management like they were gods. I'm so glad I'm out of the utmost worst place I've ever worked at in my entire career. What goes around comes around.

190k is not a high salary at Dell in SC. I am at principal eng level but getting 35% more. The only draw back is my level stays the same for ten years now, feeling under appreciated so I am prepping up my skills to move on after bonus stock vest next year..maybe?

Same here. Got laid off in Sept 2020 from Santa Clara due to my high salary at Sr principal engg level with total compensation including bonus & LTI of 190k. In Jan 2021, I got a Sr sw engg offer from a fast growing company at 35% more than at Dell.
