I’ve been with UHG close to a decade. Eight of the last 10 years have been extremely stressful due to layoffs, talk of layoffs, and hints of layoffs! It’s been very disillusioning to realize that Optum does nothing in your own best interest. However, kudos to my management team for talking the talk! Fight the fear, keep your résumé ready, and prepare to be moved into the next better chapter of your life!

As someone who was laid-off from Optum, re-deployed internally and then I quit on my own; few points I can share which I followed after I got laid-off :
1) started focusing on my building my skills
2) took many online training provided by Optum (I was in the Optum Tech group)
3) applied for multiple jobs and gave multiple interviews.
4) double down on the ESPP offering (I could see $UNH stock jumping up due to the on-going cost cutting exercise)
All the best to you all!
