I’d be willing to bet another 40-50 cuts in the mechanical department within the next 4-6 weeks. May be a blend of Union and non- union employees this time.
Guys I would run as away from bnsf as fast as possible there are alot of better companies to work for.
Big cuts coming sooner than that. By Fall there will already by massive furloughs. Within a few weeks you’ll see the next gigantic cuts. They want up way less mechanical department than now. Next year at this time it’s gonna be a complete different looking railroad.
Anyone got any new info? I heard there will be more cuts in the fall.

A source told us at Barstow Katie farmer wants to cut 12million dollars from mechanical workforce 83 were Carmen where’s the next cut seems like 4 million dollars in cuts waiting to happen.
Welcome to PSR. The layoffs will continue, the “do more with less” company strategy that has catastrophically failed at other class ones is here to stay. The railroad is no longer a stable, steady job. What used to be a decent place to make an honest living is officially dead. Bad moral, poor working conditions, and overall bad strategy’s is all that is left if the other class ones, and now, that will be Bnsf’s legacy .
That new mechanical utilization program sure is showing it’s merit to the bean counters.
