Thread regarding Teradata Corp. layoffs

Heard field CSRs were laid off today?

Can anyone confirm this and how many people were affected?

DH is a cold hearted snake, at the center of a snake pit.

Laid off the entire SSE workforce in an all hands call.
Did not get on video chat.
Did not allow anyone to speak.
Did not allow comments.

Not that I ever respected an executive that is too lazy to even iron his shirt, or smile, or prove he's not a robotic POS, but this is savage.

I no longer believe TD can remain viable beyond 3yrs. The CSS business is being outsourced and sold off in pieces. SEM layoffs are planned for later this year, which will include directors too.

We can't catch up in cloud. Get out now!

@ 2bww+1amkg8b2 Assuming his fair pay should be in 500k-1m range, leaves TD with 2-2.5m which could have been spent on CSR’s, allowing to employ 20-25 heads. the real driver behind the outsourcing move is clear.

Google Teradata and IBM and you see public promotion of IBM's strategy to replace Teradata at the customer site. It says "Move your workloads to IBM and save up to 45% of Teradata spend". Only an executive team of MO--NS would make this decision.

New corporate strategy: ruin the customer relationship that brings in the vast majority of your revenue while you chase a market others dominate.

What prospect in the U.S. market wants to buy a product from Teradata for millions of dollars and then the vendor says "don't contact us for support".

Last December I passed word through the SEMs under me that this was going to happen. They were to tell the SSEs that this was coming. I tried to help them get ahead of it and those that didn't, oh well.

Based on the AMR head count of ~50, I'd estimate the global number north of ~300.

So incredibly sad. Losing your job is bad enough - but they have to train their replacements? Shame on you, Teradata. So IBM is now the face of Teradata at customer sites? Can’t put my head around that. How many CSRs are there?

Management has never understood or recognized the value ad of a CSR. In their mind they are just repair folks. In actuality they are the face of Teradata. Trusted available anytime there is a problem. Who are you going to trust an associate trained in hardware and software architecture or a card swapper from IBM? TD CSR’s have an understanding of TD SQL and LINUX as it relates to their customers.

No one was laid off today. They were informed that IBM associates would be delivering H/W and S/W services before the end of the 2nd Quarter. In the meantime CSR’s should work to familiarize IBM associates with solutions supported by Teradata CSR’s. Reduction in force will occur within 60 days impacting every region. Sad news.
