Someone commented on one of the threads below that most people here are questioning where there will be layoffs and how many there will be, just looking for small reasons to delay their exit plans.
I absolutely agree: the company's plans are quite unknown, there is not much transparency here and many things are kept secret, so the best advice is to think only about how to get out of here.

GE is ALWAYS planning layoffs. Nothing new. It's not a matter of if but when it will happen to you. GE doesn't care about you or how it affects you, your family, and your future financial stability. In fact, many coworkers will be laughing when it happens to you. They think it is hilarious.
1azy+1amWLuDt- Your sinking that stuff with a straw ever last drop. Your one of those T’s getting laid off. The cut is going to go back to 2012 this wave. Near the end of the summer you will be out of a job again.
ID: @1lip+1amWLuDt- how many??
From GE Schenectady? Who gave you the notice?
I was given 90 day notice, so they are laying off.
@1wnh+1amWLuDt. Drinking the kool-ade.
Nothing is going to happen! We have plenty of work for the next 3 years GE and the union will keep us employed. I am glad I came back from my layoff the last 3 times. I would work for free to keep jobs here and the electric city employed.
I think you are talking about this guy.
I pretty much agree with what was said. You should always have an exit plan no matter what. Anybody with any amount of time at GE should already be wise enough to have a plan to deal with the unpredictable outcome of the next few years. You may not lose your job but you may discover that your take home pay will be decreased in one way or the other. Taxes, benefits, cost of living, etc etc etc. There's more than one way to get squeezed and they will try to get you in an area where you aren't paying attention.
