Thread regarding Commscope Inc. layoffs

Todays all hands...

Today we had an all hands asking sailors to row harder while our captain walks out with 1.6 million stock units in a life raft....

People for this company, are not worth more than a piece of furniture that c-level can move around as they please.

While they play this games, families depend on this jobs during a pandemic year to be fed and have health insurance.

Good luck everyone !

Sorry to hear about your husband. It was not his fault. Upper management probably should NOT have made the aquisition in the first place. They had no business (or a struggling businesses) and felt that an acquisition would help them.

Unfortunately your husband gets a severance package and an executive (s) can buy a mediterranean yaught.

It doesn't seem right to give bonuses for handling out severance packages. Been there done that. Hopefully your husband finds a better run company. I did.

My husband was one of the over 50 year olds let go last week. He was completely blindsided and is devastated. He enjoyed his job and simply wanted to work 10 more years and retire. I guess that his age represented too much risk. I am disgusted there was an all hands on deck meeting when he had so much work he was doing.

When will people understand/comprehend the illusion that corporations care about them as employees? Maybe back in the day - like way back, that kind of relationship existed, but now, that is a façade. You may have a good relationship with your mgr or even a VP but in the end, it's a big business and the business takes precedence over relationships UNLESS you are one of the C levels at this company.

What I would like to know is how the C levels believe they are going to right the sinking ship with change except they never change the Execs? There are so many still in predominate positions that looked the other way when Arris / Ruckus was bought and they had to know what a huge mistake it was. My guess is they just tell the emperor what ever they need to so they keep their 2 comma paycheck.

I left of my own accord approx. 6 months ago after 20+ years of tenure. I was of Brocade lineage. Arris management was bad enough about only true rewarding executives. At least the benefits under Arris were somewhat decent.

CommScope only rewarded executives, adopted the worst benefits from both companies, and started regular periodic layoffs as soon as the acquisition of Arris was completed. The fact that they forced everything under the CommScope brand and ki—d the Ruckus brand and identity was a very critical early warning sign they had no idea what they had acquired nor how to manage it. The exodus started almost immediately.

As a former employee, I obviously wasn't on the all hands call. Regardless, why would anyone be surprised that CommScope only continues to value the executives? Yes it is terrible for the employees. What's the saying, fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. Do yourself a favor and start looking for a new job outside of CommScope.

It was very hard for me to overcome 20+ years of inertia. I am so glad that I did. While my data set is limited, I know of very few people who regret leaving CommScope. The only ones I know of, their new venture went under and they needed to find a fallback quickly. So I wouldn't even say they regretted leaving. My other favorite saying, the grass isn't green anywhere. It is just different shades of brown. That said, there are many shades of brown that are much better than CommScope to be had. All you need to do is look and be patient. Something good will come your way if you are persistent. Good luck!
