We continue to look like a poorly run company. Every time my news alert goes off I cringe - what is it today? It's just one embarrassment after another. I see it. Customers see it. Does GVR? Does the Board? Do they care?
Saks online Gucci looks a lot better than ours. Did the bankruptcy hurt us? It looks like we're second fiddle to Saks on Gucci.
Gucci left quite a bit of saks stores as well
Does NM and BG still have separate merchant teams? Always seemed like an unnecessary overlap. One team based in NY makes more sense. Would be closer to vendors main showrooms, attract more talented merchants, save $$$. No need for Dallas based merchants, particularly if focus is online growth. In the old days merchants branched (visited) the stores. In today’s world they stare at a computer and communicate with vendors. In many cases no need for a buyer as vendor can pick merchandise and submit the assortments. Much better for the consumer as vendors are more in touch with their products than todays NM merchants.
I agree on the merchant view - we lost way too many people and the relationships aren't as strong. Compare the Chief Merchant and her team to the old regime - there's a big gap.
We were told that Gucci is pulling out of everywhere - looks like that's not true.
