Thread regarding Baker Hughes layoffs

Attracting talent

Is this company still capable of attracting talent at all? I do not believe that there are talented people who would agree to come to BH now because there are many companies that offer much better conditions.
If by any chance I was looking for a job now, I would never apply here. What's worse is that it seems to me that talented new hires are no longer a priority at all.

So the main conclusion to this thesis is that BH is discriminating old employees from jobs that they are more than qualified for due to the fact that BH is singling out laid off employees annual salary. If the job is posted BH will fill it. BH is losing the money anyway by filling the position regardless of who it is.

Be careful! This thread has several managers admitting that BH is preventing old employees from income. This isn’t only discrimination it’s harassment!

You saw the post about no rehires within 6 months right? Why? So they don’t give them their years back and their easier to layoff again.

BKR are hiring with an eye to firing. Think they’re interested in talent?

The c-suite is thinking about how to get out of oil & gas, and the easiest route is to buy your way in to new industries while jettisoning businesses that don’t fit. This includes sell offs, spin offs and, in some cases, shuttering. All of which will require layoffs.

If you’re an oil and gas dinosaur hired by BKR, you’re a stop gap until they can jettison you.

Knowledge & experience is way overrated and not valued!

Only mouth breathers & "gamers" (sorry can't use the 2 really descriptive words here, but you know what I mean!) with Power Point skills will survive and thrive in this organization.

RE: Attracting Talent

When I was there BH was pushing talent out the door. Several people left when BH broke off from GE (talk about a zero-sum game), and the few people there who are any good are already building their exit ramps. I know this because I’ve been getting steadily peppered with resumes and hyperbolic messages on LinkedIn from former colleagues.

BH also doesn’t care. They’ll just call Spencer Ogden or some other staffing agency when they need bodies. Anyone who has a pulse and can forward emails will do just fine. No skills or qualifications required.
