The three people I know who were cut this week are all in their fifties. I'm curious if this is the case with other folks or not? If it is, then it seems a lot like age discrimination to me. If that's true, then people who were laid off can even sue the company. It would be well deserved, in my opinion.

You sign away the right to die once you sign on the dotted line to get your severance, at least it was that way when I got RIF’d in 2016. When Commscope bought Andrew, the heart of this awesome family business was ripped from the organisation and it was transformed into a chest thumping Davey bought Goliath diatribe.....
Commscope is a hillbilly company that has no idea what it wants to be....I have one friend that caught this recent axe 2 months from her 40th Anniversary.....forget leadership, contributions, commitment, loyalty.....the losers running this company are greedy little boys, whom give two sh––s about employees ....Hope they go down in the house of cards they’ve been building since 2007....
Ahh a lesson from IBM! They begin to have us train teams in different countries so they could execute deep cuts by offloading to those countries. Problem for iBM was that so many of the ones cut were 55 or older with amazing experience and knowledge. However, when it comes to money, wise and experienced employees never ever matter.
IBM went over 24 quarters WITHOUT a profit. There is no way CommScope has cash or deep pockets to survive that long.
Several years ago, they offered voluntary pkg to those over 55 and 10 yrs of service. Nice... Unfortunately for those that didn’t take it, got picked up a month later in a mandatory rif. They got slammed for age discrimination to say the least.
When I laid off, the purposely limited the amount to avoid the required 90 day notification period a lot states have even though they had already several. They also threw in a few under 40 to avoid age discrimination claims.
The leadership there are back stabbing snakes in the grass and will sc–wu for a dollar.
To all those offered a pkg. congratulations. You will be okay, and you will look back and be grateful you are out of there. In six months you will wonder way you didn’t leave before. The place is “F”ed up and you know it.
Over 40. Very likely.
Over 50. Gone or soon
