I got a job a long time ago, when Sears was the second-largest retailer in the United States and back then it was a really good place to work.
When things went downhill, I didn’t want to believe it and all the time I thought the stories about it were exaggerated because that could never happen to a company like Sears.
It took me a long time to open my eyes and accept that this is no longer the same company.

I knew about 10 years ago...working in IT... we were running critical applications on unsupported versions of apps. Not just mainframe, but old versions of Windows and Unix. Bringing in 'free-ware' to run company functions. Making tons of changes to 30 year old code that should have been replaced years prior...solid companies with a future just don't do this. Making IT employees take mandatory classes that were more appropriate for those only working in the Pharmacy. Just doing du-b day after day just to save a few dollars. That's why the organization is in the mess they are in. May the Lord have mercy on those left on this sinking ship.
How long did it take me? About 2 Seconds. I Knew this thing was Dead about 20 Years ago. And good riddance to this obsolete company. I never worked for either of these 2 brands, but I used to shop there, until like 1999-2000, when I realized that there were much more modern, cleaner, better alternatives to shop at. VCR's were still relevant into The 2000's. Kmart and Sears (for all intensive purposes) were NOT. They are easily 20 Years past their sell-by Dates. They need to end ASAP.
Some of those weirdos that insist on taking photos of our stores still think the company is going to stir ice. Maybe they should try working in the stores before making assumptions like that!
In business world we called Sears a zombie company.
I don't accept it either..........of course I don't accept that Marilyn Monroe is dead either.
At least you did, and that’s what’s most important.
I still dont accept it. I remain hopeful that Kmart will turn around and be successful again and compete with Wal-Mart.
