Thread regarding Sears layoffs

Another round of closings are coming... and this one's a WHOPPER...

Just heard from someone a few floors up:

This one is scheduled to be around HALF of all open Sears and Kmarts over the next 10-12 days. Stay tuned... this one's gonna be ugly...

They ain't running any 50 store chain. Those are just the ones they haven't closed yet. Some Hometowns will remain (some new ones just even opened up), probably Guam or USVI stores will remain, Sears.com will probably still be a thing, but that's about it.

What freaking bloodbath LOL? Even if every single remaining location closed Tomorrow, it would be a small rounding error, in the great scheme of things, not a freaking bloodbath LOL. What do they have, maybe 50 combined units left between both brands (not including Hometowns), LOL? There are regional tiny pharmacy chains, like Thrifty White, in North and South Dakota, for crying out loud, that have more locations than that.

The "bloodbath" was when 3500 combined units went down to about 35 (in other words 99% closed). Anything that happens now, is just cleanup of what should have been ended, 20 Years ago. They are the football team down 200-0 late in 4th Quarter, who is just trying to give their backup players some playing Time before the final whistle blows. The game's result has already been decided. The home team lost or is about to have lost. Whether they manage to kick a field goal with 2 Minutes left, to make it 200-3, instead of 200-0, has no meaning. (in other words, whether or not they keep 20 stupid stores open out of over 3000 has no meaning). Game is done. When a team is being blown out in the 4th Quarter, I don't care what the final score is. Bottom line is they will lose. Maybe now, maybe after Few Minutes. But the result is a foregone conclusion.
Hit the showers and go home, it's over.

Over 300 Hometowns are included in that small format count. All these stats are making me nauseous.

13 states with full-sized Sears, 6 states with Kmart, total 14 together.

Add in 4 more states if you want to include the small-format Sears stores (Home & Life, Appliance & Mattress).

For those that are saying entire states will drop in this supposed next round, the problem is not many states left to drop and still keep the company going.

Color me skeptical. There have been 100's of these "BIG LIST COMING ON TUESDAY!!!!!!!!", type threads for Years now. And usually nothing happens. I'll believe it when I see it. I want these stores banged out more than anyone but I never count my chickens before they hatch. When it is linked and proven, then I'll believe it. I am not going to get my hopes up for nothing, because I hate being teased. For now, the only stores that are PROVEN closing are the ones on SB360's page, or the one's with store closing jobs listed on the Sears jobs page.

Also, whoever keeps throwing random cities' names around (like someone who posted WESTWOOD below), without an ounce of evidence, doesn't bring anything to this page. All it results in, is that same guy who will invariably post "Is for XYZ store is will be closing?", in broken English.

Look, when you have the goods, then deliver the goods. When you have a closing in your hand, that is provable, let's hear it. When you record the last out of the 9th inning, then you can Say you Won. But don't claim you Won the game with 2 outs, only to have the other team come back on you. A bird in the hand is worth 2 in the bush. When a closing is proven, then post your evidence and let's see. But to keep posting, "I think ABC store is closing, or I think XYZ is closing", is useless. It will just result in that idiot going "Is for the store in ABC and also da store in XYZ, are for they is closing?"

All of which is tiresome and annoying. Have The Winning Lottery Ticket in your hand first (and double/triple Check it) , before you go barging in to the convenience store dancing and screaming "I WON, I WON, I WON!!!!" at the top of your lungs, only to find out you didn't, and you just embarrassed yourself in front of everyone. As a carpenter Told me, measure twice, cut once. Have a closing proven, THEN Tell us. Or else the boy who cried wolf scenario begins to set in.

At this point even if all the stores closed at once it would be a tenth the size of previous rounds. Maybe a Whopper Jr.

Massachusetts: 1 Sears
Pennsylvania: 3 Sears
Maryland: 1 Sears
North Carolina: 2 Sears
Texas: 1 Sears
Illinois: 1 Sears
Washington: 2 Sears
Hawaii: 1 Sears

There are only 6 states that still have non-liquidating Kmarts.

California has 4 Kmarts, 6 Sears.
Florida has 2 Kmarts, 4 Sears.
New Jersey has 2 Kmarts, 1 Sears.
New York has 5 Kmarts, 3 Sears. (counting Brooklyn only once)
Michigan has 1 Kmart, 1 Sears.
Montana has 1 Kmart, 0 Sears.

(And Puerto Rico has 1 Kmart, 1 full-sized Sears, and one small-format Sears.)

"The Next round of closures is between April 18th-April 20th, 2021"

That is a true whopper of around 20 units which have been liquidating the past several weeks.

LMAO Heard this from "someone" a few floors up? Is that the same "some lady" that answers the phone at all the stores to verify they are closing? I don't think your own elevator reaches the top floor so you post whatever voices you hear in your head.

I was told something similar.
The main difference on the next round of closures will be the closure of an entire state. Of both sears and Kmart.
