Are they working out well for the company? Can we expect more Home & Life stores to open soon?

They’re not. Just like Hometown product flow is second rate, no surprises there, and sold ordered product is back-ordered several times. In metro areas Sears is irrelevant, with competition taking Eddie’s lunch money. His rural Hometowns are being targeted by Co-ops whom out service, and out price the HTs. Eddie’s non-compete after term doesn’t hold water, found illegal in many states. And some are looking at counsel members of HT and how they mis-represented the health of the HT family, organization, and vender relationships. Many .... Many owners lost life savings in the HT debacle.
Don't let appearances fool you. Corporate threatens to withhold inventory if you sell floor samples, even if inventory hasn't been in stock for months. Sears is run like a Communist propaganda town, Eddie runs a Kim Jong Un type operation except Kim Jong Un is probably better at making money.
I live near the Home and Life store in Overland Park, Kansas and there doing ok. They are having trouble keeping things in stock but still have a good variety of things. I would say they have downsized some since opening so hopefully they don't close it soon.
And who cares if it is franchised. All that means is the franchisee bares the brunt of the expense instead of corporate and corporate is still involved in the operation. An opening is an opening.
Not all of them are franchised
Apples and oranges. Sears Hometown stores are franchises. Sears Home & Life are corporate stores.
The only time you will ever see the words “Sears” and “opening” in the same sentence from this point on will be in regards to unemployment checks.
