It's terrible when the company has a failed cloud native strategy and doubles down on on-prem hosted services when it's a road to nowhere. Sales drop because they've gone through all their salesforce contacts top to bottom and can't close any major deals. Then the layoffs and the horrible coworkers make you give up on life.

So they've decided to replace Susan St. Ledger with someone from AWS that can speak about AWS infrastructure and who managed their GovCloud environment for FedRAMP. I having worked with all their engineering, cloud, and cloud teams they lacked experience in building, supporting, and securing their current on-prem offering. And lacked engineering expertise on both software and IaaS components to be successful. How is this lady going to turn this around when the CTO, CPO, and head of cloud are incompetent in leading those individual contributors?
Doug Merritt is in over his head the pivot to cloud has been ongoing for 7 years at Splunk and there is still no way for them to turn things around.

They've hired an AWS exec to drive revenue growth but it won't help if engineering teams are bad at their jobs.

Carlson joins Splunk from Amazon Web Services (AWS), where she currently serves as Vice President, Worldwide Public Sector and Industries. She has driven phenomenal customer engagement and growth during her tenure at AWS. After Carlson founded AWS’s Worldwide Public Sector in 2010, her role eventually expanded to include financial services, energy services, telecommunications, and aerospace and satellite industry business units.
Carlson has also been a strong advocate for empowering women in the technology field. That passion led to the creation of “We Power Tech,” AWS’s diversity and inclusion initiative, which aims to ensure underrepresented groups – including women – are reflected throughout all AWS outreach efforts.
