Don’t get to comfortable here. Don’t believe the company has any interest in investing in employees. Put out feelers (what can it hurt?) and always look for that next job opening. But most of all be prepared for the unexpected. And no matter how much you give to the company - don’t expect anything in return.

Doesn't matter if you have kids or not. If your position is relocated or the site is relocated then you gotta go or find another job. I've known guys who went with the job and left the family behind. Just came back to visit a few times a month. Couple a years from retirement so had to do this to keep all benefits instead of looking for another job.
Most people with kids are unable to move.
This advice doesn't need to be qualified - I think it applies to any age group, all employees
This is somewhat anecdotal, and really only applicable to the age group that isn't married, and have no children.
The only exception to that would be two unmarried adults that have occupations that allow them to telework, have certifications, or high demand occupations (like nursing) that can allow them to pick up jobs all throughout the country.
This advice can't necessarily be generically applied
