Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

how is everyone doing?

Guess things have settled down as far as posting here goes. Hoping that some of those that were laid off can give us an update on how they are doing? It would also be interesting to hear from some still at RJ and letting us know how things are.

As far as my situation is concerned, still no job but to be honest I'm not trying very hard. It is hard to since I'm getting Florida unemployment, federal unemployment and stimulus. I also started collecting SS (a year early). It is difficult at times missing certain people but those I was close to are still staying in contact. I hear there is still paralysis at RJ and everyone has their blinders on.

I was let go along with 550 other RJ folks last September too. I still have an unbelievable amount of anger toward those invisible people that made the decision to let me go (as well as the other 550). They ruined so many lives. In Paul's town hall he said that when things got better they would try to bring back people. I've heard of a couple that were approached and both said no thanks. I was loyal for 15 plus years and had so much loyalty, worked so many nights and weekends and this is how we were thanked. If I were ever approached (which I doubt would happen), I would decline and feel good about it.

It took way longer than I thought it would but I finally got hired at the beginning of February. So far I actually like all of my teammates. Great local company that is growing every day. The culture is very welcoming and everyone wants everyone else to succeed - very different from RJ where most of those that I worked with were very self-absorbed and there was a lot of throwing people under the bus. Very disappointed about what happened, but in the end I think it was best for me in the long run. I still have a handful of people that I keep in touch with, but we don't talk too much about work so that helps me move forward. Best of luck to all those still looking and trying to figure out their new normal.

very sad reading these posts. I guess I can join the chorus...no luck with a job search. Who wants to hire a 60 year old. So thanks to RJ I get to collect Florida unemployment and federal unemployment. I will probably have to start social security in 2 years. I had a call from my previous manager who tried asking me a work related question. I just laughed at her and said I would answer if Paul Reilly called me personally and offered me $5000 to answer. I still haven't heard back and she hasn't called me again. I spoke to a person on my old team that I could trust and they were desperate and have 2 people trying to figure out what I used to do. Good luck to them. I have no loyalty and owe RJ nothing.

I recommend a strong Linkedin profile. Connect with recruits on LinkedIn. Agencies are looking for talent as well. Temp to hire. Got a lot of hits. There are programs to pay for certifications for anyone unemployed as well. Tampa bay CareerSource. I didn't realize other companies are offering benefits that make you think how employees are still at RJ. Benefits are so much better at other companies. Keep trying and never give up. There is a company out there that will give you a chance.

I am still looking for a job too. I even applied for some jobs at RJ much to my dismay. Of course they won't hire me but I don't know what else to do.

I was planning on retiring in more or less 5 years and expected to finish my career at RJ after working there for several years and always giving my 100%. It came as a complete surprise to me the day I got laid off, I think I am over that now. My main concern now is that I have not been able to get another job, wondering if it's in part because of my age. I am now thinking about redoing my retirement plans in case I do not find another job.

Still I am appreciating even more other things that life offers and I am blessed to have family that helps me!

I am still looking for a job, this has been the longest for me without a job. I knew it would not be easy but was not expecting that it would be this difficult. There are times when I have some hope because I got an interview but then nothing happens and I get somehow frustrated. I still hope that a good job will come. By now I am considering relocating if the right job comes.

I miss working at RJ and back in February I applied to one of those open positions but did not get the job, I felt sad for several days. I also believe that the lay offs were not really necessary. I have downscaled my expenses. I am not much in contact with RJ people and they are not much in contact with me. I am in my late 50s and not yet ready financially to retire.

I have to admit it has not been easy due to some other circumstances with my life but still life is good in some other ways! For those facing some similar situation, know that you are not the only ones and that better times must come!

I also am one of those let go last September. Very disappointed with RJ not that it matters to them. I think I am finally over the emotion of being let go. How they can have 200 job openings, buy several companies and a stock price at 52 week highs and feel good about themselves (management) is beyond me. They should have tried bringing back everyone let go not that I would go back but the effort would have been appreciated. I speak to a few still there and to most the job is a paycheck and nothing else. Small issues are now major incidents, work that normally would take a day or two now takes weeks with all the change restrictions.
