Thread regarding Bass Pro Shops layoffs

Have things improved in the last year or so?

I was laid off a few months before the pandemic but by that time the situation at our store was so bad that I welcomed it. I was thinking of applying again (I recently lost my job again due to the pandemic - yes, my life s—s) but not if the situation hasn't improved at all. Are cuts still happening all the time? Are managers still allowed to treat employees however they want with no repercussions? Has morale improved any? Thanks in advance.

Surprise visits would be amazing. Especially when your upper management works maybe six hours a day. They wait for GM or ASGM to leave and they all scatter out as fast as they can. One manager on duty most of the time. That definitely ki--s morale, no face time with management. They don’t punch a time clock so no one knows when they come and go. It’s really become quite a Circus. Low rate Circus at that!

The problem is they don't try to compete with wages, in the local economy, no matter where the store. They guilt trip Mgrs and Leads to more hours and extra shifts while merch supplies are historically low. Adjust store hours or lower expectations temporarily. Covid effects will be around at least another year. Wake up Johnny, get out and surprise visit a few stores like you should. Get the true picture of your Empire that Capital One now controls.

We were told that they won’t be hiring full time any longer. Only leads and managers

This place has not improved and never will with these 2 guys running the place they treat us like s–t and talk to us that way 2, owner only cares about the money the employees make him while he sits on his a-s, or let's the big wheels go on fishing trips. So I would run as fast as you can. We have lost so many due to these 2 guys

Johnny just bought another trophy company recently. That will cost us. Don't come back if you don't have to.

Don't come back, this place is a joke, everyone in the store that has been here is looking for another job, many that have been here 14 years went as soon as these other two guys took over as they remind everyone of the very first managers in the store when we first opened, and they were not nice people so for the ones that still here they know who I am talking about.
It is sad when a big company like this has gone to HELL, and they don't care at all, the owner just want that money and does not care how his workers are treated.

It seems this is going on in many stores. I have been with the company for going on 21 years. I can’t believe what I see and there is no communication at all. So sad to see this once amazing place to work go to the toilet.

Ya it hasn’t gotten better. Literally the only people working anymore are part timers and overworked leads. Managers don’t know what’s going on so they sit in the office all day.

I’ve been with basspro 3 1/2 years. The downhill spiral of morality is unbelievable. This “post pandemic” situation we are going into seems to get more confusing every day. There’s literally no communication at all. Store refuses to hire help but won’t provide promised raises.
