Thread regarding McKesson Corp. layoffs

The new Hub Strategy of McKesson!

What do you think about the new hub strategy of McKesson?

Many prime work locations are getting closed, employees are forced to relocate to TX, families are affected or talent is drained. Meanwhile, the World is going the other way to make it all flexible to their workers, and enable them (The new McK HR head deserves a shoutout for being so rude & arrogant to talk about it on employee webcasts).

Is it another sign of a century behind/unskilled McK Leadership, cruel/don't care mentality, politics, plain stupidity or something else!!!

I had a chat with Talent Acquisition rep as an internal applicant for an upward position on a different ISRM team from the one I currently hold. All current team members are in either Alpharetta or Scottsdale... I was told that the new hub hiring strategy is almost an absolute requirement to relocate to Las Colinas for all new positions even for existing employees.

Why would you mandate a move to Las Colinas to maybe visit the office 2-3 days a week when there is no team at that location? I can already do that in my current location that is not closing. Such a mandate is just stupid. Internal candidates should be exempt from such rediculous requirements when there is no "team" at the Las Colicas office.

Adding an addition burden to existing employees seeking oppurtunities within the company, but then saddling them with the requirement to buy real estate in this current market is absurd! I honestly dont know how they (McKesson) are going to expect to retain any talent. I suppose that is exactly what the long term strategy is.

One point that is being glossed over. Even though remote employees are not losing their jobs, any chances of advancement is off the table unless they relocate. Also, I see this move as a prelude to further action down where remote employees are phased out completely except for certain roles like Sales. By slow rolling this, McKesson avoids having to dole out severance packages since the Hub strategy will likely cause a mass exodus of remote employees over the next year.

Closing locations to not pay for real estate but letting people keep their salary and work from home. Seems ok to me?

Most of the MBA types are dying to come back to the office and get on the road again. Brown nosing and a-s kissing is way more effective in person, than over Zoom.

Of course many in the leadership wanted to be in the office, hence forcing the employees too:
1) that is the easy away to get away from their spouses at home to engage in their 'extra-curricular' activities. shhh... a known secret and the main reason ;)
2) to show their power or flex their muscles to employees, easy to do it in an office. now their spouses are doing it to them Lol!
