Thread regarding CareFirst BlueCross BlueShield layoffs

Is this a joke?

While the annual raise was embarrassing, you work around the clock to keep your job. It’s now suggested volunteering your talent and time, join a 1000 donation club to United Way or just give any amount, give money to a emergency employee fund, and give to PAC.

That ask to give to an emergency employee fund was straight up horrifyingly embarrassing. if you end up in a situation where you are homeless and/or struggling to put food on the table, and you have a job, it says something about the company that you work for that they would actually have the audacity to ask your colleagues to take a collection to help you out, like a charity or a go fund me. Instead of, you know, having the company themselves work with that employee to help them in some way. Says something about providing living wages as well.

The audacity was shocking and I've never worked at a place that has such out of touch executives that they would think that was an acceptable thing to stand up and promote. Granted, I am realizing that I have worked at much better companies that CareFirst. Or should I say CareLess.

And that Tocqueville level giving ($10K a year?!?) was just another example of how out of touch these execs are with the rank and file. Granted, it gave me a much needed laugh when I received that email and then promptly deleted it.
