I wouldn’t get too excited about Quest being purchased. When Dell got Quest folks got all excited “ we’re in the big leagues now” one poster in the office read …and most of those folks got laid off. Then FP purchased Quest and folks got all excited again and celebrated with cake…most of these folks were laid off on day one. Quest being sold to anyone has not yet proven to be good news for Quest employees. But who knows maybe the 3rd time is the charm.

As PT Barnum said, there's a su---r born every minute and two more to take advantage of them. Francisco Partners was a su---r to buy from Dell and now they're looking for the next su---r. There aren't a whole lot of them out there in the market for this kind of "portfolio". DXC? Microfocus? Another VC looking for a writedown?
