Anyone have a manager who loves to bully you and make you feel small? Sometimes I think it’s just me. Then I realize that my manager has been in his role for less than a year and perhaps he feels insecure. I’m trying not to take this personally, telling myself that perhaps he is correct - then I remember that I’ve been in my role for 10+ years and I know my job functions like the back of my hand. He’s such a petty individual who loves to micromanage. It’s a wonder he gets anything done.

Happened with me in digital marketing by both KC and AB and now see kerma… AB layed off KC let oct and company layed off AB …. But I had to switch before stress ki--s me…
When managers are enabled to intimidate, manipulate, lie, deceive, steal you get an org that falls very fast.
That is the destiny of these cheap managers.
GSS-NASA + 5 years leaving for same reason - Managers acting like fast food “Tyrants”
You are not the only one.
When I was a new first line manager, I had an excellent and supportive leadership chain. I felt confident, secure, and informed and this translated to me being a great manager. Within a month, I got a new management chain that followed the McGregor Theory X style. I lost confidence, became insecure and was not informed on any strategy coming down the pipeline. I ended up becoming a bad manager in the sense I could not lead properly and simply dished out (rolled down) tasks and was forced to monitor KPI’s. I left the company and took a step backwards in my career and became an IC again - not what I wanted.
I guess what I’m trying to share with everyone is your manager’s ability to properly lead is dependent on their management chain. If a manager tries to go against the grain then do know these managers get replaced by “yes people”.
I am a first line manager and I absolutely hate that this is happening to you. Our job is to support you to do your best and to shield you from cr-p like this. I agree with whoever said it above that the individual contributors are more essential than a manager like me because I have to rely on you to get the job done. I am only here to make it easier for you to do so.
Unfortunately, I have heard from people joining my team what is happening to you is not uncommon. Please know that not all managers are like that and absolutely don't let this impact your work or your self confidence.
Also, document as many instances you can very clearly before you go to Etica or senior management. It is never easy to win in a situation where it one person's word over the other, especially when the other person is your manager. Hope it gets better for you a find a manager that you would like to work with.
ETICA is a complete and total Sh-t Show. I had a Manager at VMware who had no less than 7 complaints and yet still remains long after my RIF.
Document. File a complaint with HR. And ETICA.
