I am 150 percent committed to the job I was trying to keep by working very hard. I do my best. However, I have a feeling that the more I work and the more effort I put in, that the manager wants more. It is no longer clear to me what Staples wants from their employees.
I got to the breaking point and prioritized job hunting. Until I find a new job, I no longer intend to do anything more than the bare minimum.

You are doing the right thing, MANY of us feel this way.
Sad and Pathetic! You are making the correct decision! It’s time to leave and not look back.
To be fair, middle management is likely doing the best they can. Its challenging leading a team when the company is rudderless. SP is simply sustaining Staples with as little investment as possible while they seek out a buyer. They've more than made their money back, they could care less about any company they own.
You know what they want? They want you to quit!
Sadly we've seen time and time again that loyalty and commitment have not been recognized when it's time to cut. Your priorities to look elsewhere are reasonable.
If you can get out of that dumpster fire do it. Some of the worst “leadership” I’ve ever been around. Companies that aren’t failing are much more fun to work for.
Yes, leave. Unless you cozy up to your boss and other members of the SLT within your LOB, you might just call it and waive the white flag of surrender.
