Thread regarding Pembina Pipeline Corp layoffs

Does MD want people to quit vs. getting laid off?

In light of the spring Town Hall, is MD that out of touch with the people? Does he really want to go back to "normal" when "normal" wasn't sustainable? When "normal" offered no work/life balance and so many of us on the precipice of burn out? There are so many of us who would welcome way more flexibility to work from home on a regular cadence, and to be treated like the adults that we are. We are not all born out of the same ilk, and it's unfair to paint us all with the same brush - if this were so what's the point of doing Insights? A lot of us don't get energized by being around people - it's just the opposite and it is completely draining, There are a lot of us who don't need to collaborate on a day to day basis - it's not part of our jobs. Most of us don't have the luxury of nannies, money to park downtown everyday, etc. MD is so out of touch with the everyday worker - he wouldn't have a young family and all that entails, or other hobbies that distract from this toxic company. What shred of loyalty I had just vanished. I will do my job but not with the same enthusiasm I once had, and frankly my family is more important than this or any job. This is not a forward looking company when it comes to it's main resource - the people. MD is just another sheep doing what 80% of other CEO's are doing - where is the leadership and where is the conscious thought of mental health? Does this have to do with executives wanting to be seen on a daily basis? Or does this have something to do with leasing a building and wanting to see chairs occupied? Or does MD have trust and control issues that are being projected onto everyone? Also, treating everyone the same does not address Inclusion & Diversity. I suppose all they think I&D is, is more female representation in leadership and being non-white - pretty shallow IMO. Praying for a package for my mental health. I would quit but can't afford it.

I laughed at the "savings" comment. Anything that was "saved" last year was a rounding error. I was tempted to ask the C-suite how many larger pools will be built their second or third homes or which new Ferrari they will purchase this year, but you would be a marked man (even though the questions are all proclaimed to be "anonymous".) BS from a group of polished men who are nothing but empty suits. There is no doubt they want people to quit via attrition vs. payout.

I agree - another tone deaf town hall bragging about what an amazing year we had when they are slowly shredding away any benefits of working here - they’ve gutted the PATH program, removed the DB pension, stock options (although since everything is under water maybe that’s ok), social club, no raises or promotions. He keeps referring to the “savings” we generated last year - meaning the people they exited, and are now trying to go back to bringing projects and new work and initiatives online without recognizing there’s not enough people to do the work.

Even when referring employee feedback through surveys they minimize what they’ve heard, or pivot to talk about “other stakeholders” instead of actually listening to their workforce - the people getting work done and keeping our assets running.

They continue to manage organizational change so incredibly poorly that people are unnecessarily freaked out, stressed, and terrified. This company thrives on fear.

"Pembina doesn't care about your mental health"

Pembina doesn't care about you or your overall health. We are "human capital". Look at the posts below. Degrade and wash their hands if you are deemed expendable. We mean nothing to them,

Thanks for posting this. The entire event was predictably tone deaf from MD, et.al. I'm done with this company and would put notice in on Monday if it were financially feasible. It just isn't worth it anymore, and now simply hoping for a package to bridge it into new employment. I'm not a country club employee by any means, but the unsustainable work culture and stress is no longer worth it to my family and myself. If I were a single guy it wouldn't be an issue. The culture needs a major overhaul.
