Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

I can't rest

I'm too tired every day. I start and finish work tired. When I have a day off, I cannot get enough rest. Total burnout.

It was to be expected that I would get into this situation because I have been doing work for several people for months now. It's become unbearable.

Certainly I don’t think I’m the only one in a situation like this. How much is your workload?

Here comes some unsolicited advice on how to handle the "too much work" situation that has worked for me for my entire 35 working years. Of course, my experience has been completely in a corporate environment, not in a retail store. Also, I left Staples last year after 7 years there, and I was fortunate enough to find greener pastures.

Go to your manager with the list of things you are to do, tell them that you can't do it all, and ask them to help you prioritize the items on your list. Do not be confrontational - be factual. Before you say "they'll just fire me" - if Staples is in such a hiring dilemma as stated in other posts (and I believe it is), it would not make sense for a manager to get rid of you IF you are as good as you think you are. That would make their job even harder.

Otherwise, if you can't find a job with another company with your current skill set, you really need to re-invent yourself with skills that are in demand.

I feel your pain. There have been so many layoffs. Everyone seems to be carrying the workload of 2-3 people. It's overwhelming. I understand the Company needing to protect itself in down times. I'm just feeling very taken advantage of. I'm looking and haven't found anything greener on the other side of the fence.

Take a sleeping pill, go to bed early, and, if all else fails, listen to some soft rock while counting sheep.

Yes so rude and loser for sure! Hope you experience what it feels like to be overworked and stressed by this company. You must be one of those lazy workers Staples is famous for hiring.
