Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

Is the company going to address the severe attrition?

Manufacturing sites and Spring are literally bleeding engineers. Saw an invite for this manufacturing panel in Baytown to talk about convincing people to stay long term with Exxon, just kinda looks pathetic and I actually feel bad for managers who are powerless with how executives are running the company. Cutting benefits, no raises or promotions, culture gone to sh-t, people working overtime and burnt out with no recognition or end in sight, of course you’ll see people leave. Return some of these and pay people more perhaps you see an improvement. It’s a simple solution really. unless they actually want to see the attrition (which I suspect might be true), then don’t call it a concern.

If you are incapable of understanding the necessity and urgency for EM to dramatically cut capex and opex during the greatest financial crisis since the Great Depression, you just don’t get it. EM has taken the first step with good Q1 results, but still faces Covid impact on global demand, as well as the proxy battle. When and if profitability stabilizes, salary increases etc. will return. But EM needs to put together at least 3 solid quarters of profitability before things return to normal. If that is asking too much of you, no one is keeping you at EM.

XOM: We won't bring back the 401k until we see significant attrition. Also we'll continue insulting our employees' intelligence by pretending the next round of PIP's isn't just more layoffs.

Also XOM: Wait, why are people leaving? Please stay!

It isn’t just Exxon it’s up in Canada too. This toxic culture is pervasive globally
