Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

When did AMD leave us behind in the dust?

When did AMD become a preferred employment option to Intel? We just lost two members of our team (two people Intel should have fought hard to keep instead of just letting them walk away) to AMD and I am still stumped. It used to be that people from AMD were working toward switching to Intel and now it's the other way around?

I left Intel a couple of years ago and went to AMD. Had been with them roughly 22 years. The truth from my view was they lost focus on the customer and the product (diversity, political correctness, etc). Not all those things are bad, but Quality was HORENDOUS, from things like internal software to product... just a lack of focus on schedules and customers. Was sad when I was on a focal review session and they pretty much mocked the higher dedication of employees. The view was basically we could hire a bunch of monkeys (not exact words) to do the work. Dedication and focus on customer was almost mocked and certainly not valued. I swear at AMD the focus is 100% on customer even the admins get it and are focused. Good luck but no regrets leaving. You will be happier elsewhere sorry to say. If younger leave, older god bless for retirement.

AMD has better employees more Asians, they work harder than eat hamburgers. At AMD very few ppl take 2 hour lunches. Some people hate doing anything productive at Intel

Maybe since Intel lost their antitrust employment suit?

In the old days Intel would not just discourage AMD and others from hiring out of Intel, but also get you un-hired from AMD if you announced before leaving Intel.

Intel was the greatest company, but it is still great
Many companies would like to emulate and swallow Intel market share. Still they are catching up

D-mb Intel CEOs starting from PSO starting poking holes in the Intel dam. Maybe even CJB, who started the H1B train rolling from you know where.

PSO: D-mb, but "nice". Turning down iPhone CPU ceded ARM and TSMC leadership of mobile computing revolution

BK: D-mb, mean, and corrupt. Diversity programs and money out the wazoo to cover up his incompetency. Biggest blatant insider trader ever -- sold all of the stock that he could when notified privately of Spectre and Meltdown. Thankfully, his taste for ugly ALP MBA grads provided the board with enough woke ammo to terminate him.

BS: D-mb and clueless, but "personable." Was literally the last choice in the Intel CEO draft (Pat G famously turned Intel down that time). All he did was initiate the biggest stock buyback program in Intel history.

While BK was getting his knob slobbered in the 5th floor bathroom of RNB, AMD hired a legit CEO in Lisa S and she dropped a bo-b on that Intel dam.

But in the end, I would place my bets on Nvidia, even if the ARM deal falls through.
