Thread regarding ADP layoffs

Dealing with superiors who don't understand what you're doing

ADP has so many leads and managers that oversee a group that they know nothing about. Even worse is that they do not take the time to learn the tasks of the group they oversee.

This is awful. I’ve worked before in a company where my boss didn’t quite understand what I do. After all, I did not expect it, because he had never done my job. However, unlike the manager here, my former boss did care to learn more about the work we were doing.

Not knowing what the he-l you’re doing is a prerequisite for getting ahead at ADP. If you’re intelligent, innovative and highly skilled at what you do..... well, basically you’re screwed.

What a wonderful company.

Very true, I no longer work there but my manager had never been in my position and didn’t have the slightest clue how to do anything related to my role.

very true- the people who know what they are doing are let go and the next VP wannabe gets promoted instead. Everyone still left gets asked to do more with less, and less.....
