Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

How to keep employees!

Leadership need to get back to there old ways of overall sales goal and move away from talk time and the amount of dials.

Yes more dials = more talk time. Need to focus on quality over quantity and that will bring in more sales. Doesn’t matter if an email, call, in person, letter by horse. If sales ppl can generate positive sales, it should be left to that.

Micromanaging on the inside is what the MAJOR problem is with the company. Change that and you will have happier employees that will want to stay and bot fear each day of losing there jobs!!

Staples doesn't want to have good sales people anymore, they want cheap and easily replaceable call center agents. When that strategy doesn't work to increase sales, and it won't, they will focus on reducing costs and probably outsource those call center agents to a low wage country. It's incompetent management 101.

Agree. This job has turned to a micromanaged disaster of a cr---y burn and churn call center. I remember when it was fun coming to work when we cared about our customers and made good money doing it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it and treat your people like they are valued is what it’s going to take to dig Staples out of the declining revenue ho-e that’s getting deeper every day.

AGREE 110% That sounds great but not reality. The only road block I see right now is the useless sales management in the way that like to hear their self talk all the time. blah, blah, blah I get it, you need to justify your management job with "another meeting or training session" so you keep dogging the nasty "pink slip". The reality is, most sales managers at Staples are a waste and have not kept a job for more than 5 years prior. And this is the last stop before unemployment. The best thing SD can do, IMO is gut the useless sales management/brass and rebuild. Let's get folks who can sell super aggressive and bring business in. You don't need meetings and training sessions all day. You need bulldogs who can sell! At the end of the day, you can't you anywhere standing still SD.
