What weird old stock or other items was left in the back of some of these GIANT stores before they bit the dust?
What was it like inside of some of these giant warehouses that were cleaned out?

When store 4276 in May 2012, we found several boxes of old Disney VHS tapes. We also found a couple boxes of the original “Now that’s what I call music!” CDs. They were left on an out of the way shelf in a storeroom that was part of the old Penske auto center. They storeroom had been used to house pharmacy records after Penske closed and idk why those boxes never got moved.
During the closing of Grove City Kmart, we found the original blueprints to the store, sale signs dating back to 1983, several dead rodents, and a love letter to an associate. We also found a bereavement leave request letter from Betty who was requesting funeral leave for her sister Marge. Hope you’re doing okay Betty

The last “open” Sears in Illinois still has Chicago Cubs shirts from 2016! Green Bay Packers and Dallas Cowboys stuff from 2017 too!

The Somerville MA Kmart finished liquidating in November, 2019. Three days before the end, I saw H&R Block tax software from 2013 still on a store shelf.

Everything about Sears is a Potemkin village, a ruse to give the illusion of activity, just like the Soviet totalitarians of old. Sears is suing TransformCo so Eddie can pretend like he doesn't have a conflict of interest that would put him in jail. Eddie speaks of transforming Sears while raiding employee pensions so hundreds of thousands will live their retirement in poverty. Eddie invests a bare minimum in keeping the company alive so he can transfer tax loss benefits. He just lies lies and lies, putting up fronts while being even less effective at business than Kim Jong Un, because the actual business behind his fraud is even more massive a failure than the retail business that is his front.
