Thread regarding Raymond James Financial Inc. layoffs

TIP: RJ won't promote you, till you leave and come back for alot more

The biggest mistake the execs and leadership at RJ make is they don't appreciate their loyal and dedicated employees. They will penny pinch you but hire candidates from outside the firm for alot more (depending on project). Or they will hire an intern for 1/3 of the cost and make rest of the team suffer till they realize they need to overpay. It's a never ending cycle of how RJ functions.

If you feel underpaid at RJ, do your research and work on your skills/certifications and give yourself a promotional offer outside of RJ. Once you leave, and keep in touch with leadership there, they will hire you back for literally 10% to 20% bump of your salary. Some of their projects are failing our severely behind on deadlines cause they don't have the right talent support.

I am one of the lucky ones that was laid off last September. That being said I have been in touch with a few old RJ friends and it is very tough in IT at the moment. The senior IT management team is pushing down on lower management but nobody is going "above and beyond" anymore. One friend was talking about the days when Tom was still in charge and Tim in IT. He misses the "Work, Work, Play" ethic and the Friday song. Those are done and buried.

Your observation is not exclusive to RJ. This game is played by many firms.

I couldn't agree more with what is said. I'm still in touch with a few former teammates. There is paranoia everywhere in IT. Nobody cares, everything is an incident that requires a major zoom call. Nobody empowers themselves anymore since it only gets you in trouble even if you solve the problem. Mention projects and nobody volunteers. you have to be assigned.
