lol - an ex-military friend of mine just started working at the new Amazon center across the street. for doing some basic management stuff, Amazon pays him prettttyyy well....plus a really nice bonus...at least better than GA's!
I would say both people are telling the truth. Obviously someone with an Airframe experience will always be an asset across all defense companies. But the business side and tech side is another story…. I have interviewed with many companies and tech companies have expressed concerns with me not being able to handle the culture change in tech.
A former military interviewer actually advised me to not say working GA was very technical or that I was working with leading edge technology.
It’s wise to say I learn all I could at GA and want to expand my knowledge in technology.
Defense contracts will hire other defense contractors.... but no one from Silicon Valley is looking to leave for NG, GA or any other defense contractor! Also no FAANG company is looking to hiring someone with GA experience on their resumes... it’s actually look upon as a negative and not a positive
HA, Northrop will hire you... they are on a hiring high right now bringing in all walks of life! been with NG for 10 years and had to look twice when i saw a new hire with a tattoo of his whole family on his neck. NG will pay top dollar for qualified A&P mechanics/ aircraft technicians, we need them to get rid of the trash that walk the halls of our great facilities.
But none of them want to hire people with outdated skill sets...
