Thread regarding Union Pacific Corp. layoffs

Featured on UP’s home page. I want to be a star.

Hey, if you are a conductor and you held the door open for an old lady at the grocery store, how does one go about contacting the UP public affairs to be featured on the homepage? Technically, I didn’t even hold the door open for her as they are automatic doors, but I turned around and said “you’re welcome” so she’d feel bad for not saying “thank you” as she followed me in. I mean, I don’t think any act of human kindness should go unrewarded and everyone that works at UP should know and believe that we have the greatest employees. This is an awesome place to work and everyone reading this needs to pat themselves on the back.

You are correct. UP is not an attractive destination for new hires. They have to offer bonuses for conductors and college graduates won’t even consider them. They’ve increased the profits short term but turned the company into a sh– show from an employee’s viewpoint and a laughingstock to potential job applicants.

How many people that were featured in past articles are still with the company? I can't agree with the last sentence though about the UP being the greatest place to work. They're the worst employer 2 years in a row. Someone else posted about the employees obsessing about everything the company does. People tend to do that when it could very well affect their jobs in the near future. THE UP IS A JOKE! Everything happening at the UP is because of management. If they can't get people to come back or even apply, then who's the joke on then? Applicants and former employees are getting smarter. They're staying away from the company that the OP claims is the "greatest place to work"!

I nominated my manager to be featured on the UP homepage because he worked 28 days this month with no overtime pay except for a UP hotdog.

UP employees say the company is a joke, but the jokes on you! The company doesn’t care one bit about you, how you feel, or what you think about them. The employees on the other hand obsess over everything the company does, whether it effects them or not.
